The first day of the month or of the year is a pretty arbitrary thing. There is no particular advantage to start something at that point vs. any other day of the month.
But, as life turned out, this is the perfect time for me to start a new writing challenge. I did this before in August and I was really pleased with the results. So I'm going to try it again!
This time my goal is slightly more structured and more public. My most important piece is to post something every day in November. The extra challenge is that this includes more than just my website. I want to publish things more publicly, either on Medium or some other social media platform.
I have no goals outside of that. I'm focusing on the actions I can control - writing and publishing - instead of results I can't control - such as views or engagement.
In the end I just want to focus on enjoying the process, because I do enjoy writing. And I do want to share my thoughts and opinions with the world. I want to feel seen. And I think this kind of challenge is a good step in that direction.
So let's see how it goes!
I may of course miss a day or two throughout the month, and I won't take that too seriously. I don't see that as a failure. What matters is that I keep going if/when I miss a day.
